Mary was assumed into Heaven?

Mary led a sinless life and was therefore assumed into heaven

Who says Mary led a sinless life?? The Bible says otherwise, that is what “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) is that “there is no right, not even one” (Romans 3:10).

In the Eastern Church, the Assumption of Mary began to be widespread in 700 D.C.. It then gradually spread to the West, where it became known as the feast of the Assumption. In 1400 the majority of Catholic theologians accepted the dogma of the Assumption. however, this doctrine did not become an official article of faith until recently, when Pope Pius XII declared it dogma of the Catholic faith: “The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, when the course of his earthly life ended, she was taken body and soul into heavenly glory” (the generous, Pope Pius XII, 1950).

It is not taught in the scriptures

Catholic authors admit that dogma is not explicitly taught in Scripture. In the biblical account we find the last traces of Mary in proceedings 1, where she is found praying with the other disciples before Pentecost. After that, the Bible is silent about his life and death.

Of course, Catholics say that there are some points in the Scriptures that can prove that Mary was assumed into heaven. But these efforts are like climbing mirrors.

Let's consider some examples:

Genesis 3:15 – “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, between your offspring and his offspring: essa ti schiaccerà il capo, and you will sneak up on the heel“. It is claimed that Maria, was intimately associated with him in that fight against the infernal enemy that, as announced in the Gospel, she would finally be victorious over sin and death. We note, however, which is the seed, Jesus, NOT the woman, who crushed the snake's head. His resurrection is the sure sign of the triumph of the Messiah over the Devil. Together with all Christians, Mary would also benefit from a victory of Christ according to God's plan of salvation at the “resurrection of life.” This is still a future event.

Luca 1:28“The angel, entered by her, said: «I salute you, or favored by grace; the Lord is with you "“. And it continues in Luca 1:42: «Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!“. Body Assumption is said to be the natural effect of being highly favored or full of grace. however, the same word translated “full of grace” (in greek, charitoo) is applied to all believersin Ephesians 1:06. and yet, no one dreams of saying that every believer should be physically assumed into heaven immediately after death!

Apocalypse 21:1 – “Then a great sign appeared in the sky: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under his feet and a crown of twelve stars on his head”. A Catholic author writes: “the coronation of Mary, implies its previous bodily intake.” He, mistakenly, dà per scontato che questa “donna” both Maria and ignores the problems of such an interpretation. Eg, the woman of the Apocalypse “she was pregnant, and cried out in pains and the labor of childbirth.” (Apocalypse 12:2); that Catholics believe it is Mary who “she gave birth to her Son without pain” As Pope Alexander III stated (Virgin interamente Marvelous, Peter Brookby, ed., The Ravengate Press, 1981). But the early Church Fathers identified the woman with the Church, not Maria. And the church in the Bible and symbolically, It has always been “a woman” the bride of Christ.

None of these verses actually demonstrate the bodily assumption of Mary. As Pope Pius XII commented: “Often there are theologians and preachers who, following in the footsteps of the holy fathers, they were rather free in their interpretation of events and expressions taken from Sacred Scripture, to explain their belief in the Assumption“.

It is not taught by the Fathers of the Church

The Catholic Encyclopedia admits that the former “really” written references on the Assumption of Mary come from authors who lived between 700 A.D. per year 1000:

If we consult the writings in the East, the Assumption is mentioned in the sermons of St.. Andrew of Crete, S. Giovanni Damasceno, St. Modest of Jerusalem and others. In the West, St. Gregory of Tours (The glory of mart., I, iv) he mentions it first. [2]

San Gregorio lived in the sixth century, while St. John Damascene belongs to the eighth. So for many centuries in the early Church, there was no mention by the Fathers of the Church about the corporal Assumption of Mary. Irenaeus, Girolamo, Agostino, Ambrose and the other Church Fathers said nothing about it. In 377 AD Father Epifanio affirms that it is not known what happened to Mary. [3]

It was first taught by heretics

Then, how did this teaching which is absent in the Holy Scriptures and in the tradition of the early Church come up?? The belief of hypothesis is based on apocryphal and spurious writings.

Faith in the corporeal assumption of Mary is based on the apocryphal treatise De Obitu S. Mrs., which bears the name of San Giovanni, which still belongs to the fourth or fifth century. It is also found in the book Passing Virginia, falsely attributed to San Melitone di Sardi, and in a false letter attributed to St. Denis l'Areopagita. (Catholic Encyclopedia).

The first author of the church who mentioned the Assumption, Gregory of Tours, based his teaching on crossings, perhaps because he accepted it as real. [4] however, in 459 AD Pope Gelasius issued a decree officially condemning and rejecting the crossings along with several other heretical writings. Pope Ormisda reaffirmed this decree in the sixth century. [5] It is funny to note how this teaching considered heretical by the Fathers of the Church was then promoted within the Catholic Church until the end, and it was only proclaimed dogma in the twentieth century.

Implications

a) The Roman Church solemnly warns that “anyone who voluntarily dared to deny or question what we have defined (that is, the Assumption), we must let him know that he is completely removed from the divine and from the Catholic faith” (the generous). How could this dogma be so important, since it was unknown in the early church, and even condemned by some popes, now be the most important, since it is absent from the Holy Scriptures? Some have actually strayed from the Catholic faith. Apostates are those who invented this fictional doctrine. The faithful are those who, together with the early Christians, they remained steadfast in upholding the New Testament faith.

b) In theory, the Roman Church teaches that:

  • The sacred deposit of faith (God's Word) it is contained in Sacred Scripture and in Tradition.
  • The Magisterium provides an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, but it adds nothing to its contents.

The apostles entrusted the 'sacred deposit’ of faith (ii deposit of), contained in Sacred Scripture and in Tradition, to the whole Church… The Magisterium teaches only what has been transmitted by it … Everything that proposes to believe as divine and revealed is taken from this single deposit of faith " (Catechism, 84-86).

Practically, Rome teaches doctrines that are not drawn from the deposit of faith. We have seen that the Assumption is found neither in Scripture nor in the tradition of the early church. sure, if this doctrine had been transmitted from the apostles to the bishops of the early church, we would expect to find at least some references to it in the voluminous writings of the Fathers. But on this subject there is total silence.

If you are a Catholic, ask yourself if your implicit trust in the Roman magisterium is justified. The magisterium claims to explain the Word of God, but at least in this case, went way beyond his role. Si tratta di inventare nuove dottrine al di là della Parola di Dio. Caution! One may also be convinced that one's faith is built on solid rock, when in reality , you are in quicksand.

c) Catholic theology has exalted Mary by bringing her up to heaven, and it is therefore natural that Catholics turn to her for their spiritual needs.

O most sweet Lady and our Mother, tu hai già lasciato la terra e raggiunto il tuo regno, dove, as Queen, you are throne … From the high throne, then, to which you are exalted, volgi, o Maria, your compassionate gaze upon us, e la pietà su di noi. (Of the Assumption of Mary, S. Alfonso de 'Liguori).

Despite their protests to the contrary, la verità triste è che tale devozione mariana toglie la semplice fede e devozione al Signore Gesù Cristo. Scripture speaks explicitly of Jesus, than having lived a life without sin, he died for sinners, he was buried and raised from the dead, and after forty days he ascended into heaven, where He reigns in glory, interceding for his people. Compassion and pity , it is found only when we appeal to the Lord Jesus.

Therefore he can perfectly save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to intercede for them. In fact, we needed a high priest like that, santo, innocent, spotless, separated from sinners and raised above the heavens. (Jews 7:25-26).
