Who wrote the Torah?

Christian and Jewish writers, as a clergyman, Josephus Flavius, Philo and Origen were essentially and fully in agreement that the Pentateuch was written exclusively by Moses. The Mishnah and the Talmud also confirm this. The Christian tradition of the first millennium has always been of this conviction.

There are many scholars today who continue to believe that Moses wrote the entire Pentateuch:

PN Benware states:

Moses was the author of Genesis and the other books of the Pentateuch … These five books of the law were written only by Moses, with the exception of Deuteronomy, which records the death of Moses. .. The Pentateuch, then, is an inspired book, infallible, authoritative and is the document written by Moses.

The authors of the new Tyndale Bible commentary assert:

The education that Moses would have received as pharaoh's adoptive grandson qualified him for the task of collecting and writing the Pentateuch.

Larry Richards afferma:

Moses wrote and edited most of the Pentateuch and … these books are rightly considered both an accurate divine revelation by an eyewitness of the events described as occurring in the course of Moses' life.

JW Hayford writes:

The Jewish tradition attributes the authorship of Genesis and the following four books to Moses …. there are a number of loanwords from Egyptian found in Genesis, a fact that suggests that the original author had his roots in Egypt, as Moses actually did.

Because conservative Christians believe in the inerrancy of the Bible (error free), the question of paternity is not even questioned. Moses wrote at least the vast majority of the Pentateuch. Some attribute all five books to the author, and they assert that the account of his death and burial was his prophecy. however, some deviated from traditional Christian teachings. They believe that chosen passages were written by people other than Moses. Some of these writings are referred to as “post-Mosaics” (material that was added after Moses' death). Others are called “a-Mosaics” (material that may have been written in the time of Moses, but not attributed to him).

Protestants generally believe that Moses wrote all or most of the five books, after the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, but before entering Canaan. The period was when the Israelites began wandering the wilderness, around 1450 aC.

But it is not possible to provide concrete evidence for this claim.
