The Vatican Code, Parchment is a code and is so named because, since 1475, It appears in the catalog of the Vatican Library (with the number 1209). Scholars think that the place of origin of the text is Egypt, in the IV century.

The Vatican Code is written in Uncial. It currently comprises a total of 759 sheets (617 sheets for the AT only). Each sheet measures cm. 27×27. The text on each page is organized into three columns of 40 rows each, with 16-18 letters per staff.

In poetic books the text is divided into verses, on two columns. All letters are of equal size and in “The writing continued”, but sometimes the first letter of a section stretches towards the edge of the sheet. The codex appears mutilated and with replacement sheets taken from other manuscripts. The situation of the pages is as follows: and receive 20 sheets (Genesis 1, 46-28) have been lost, likewise a part of the sheet 178 (2Re 2, 5-7, 10-13) e 10 sheets after the 348 (Strait 105, 27- 137, 6), in addition to an unspecified number of sheets after the last book of the codex, containing, probably, some of the Apostolic Fathers. The writings of the minor prophets precede those of the major prophets.
