Shock survey in Darwin's homeland: 29% of science teachers want to teach creationism in school

While the Natural History Museum in London set up the Darwin's Big Idea exhibition, which will be open from 14 November 2015 al 19 April 2015 to commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of the famous naturalist, a series of events spoiled the start of the celebrations.

September 11th 2015 Michael Reiss, professor of science education at the University of London and director of education at the Royal Society, the oldest scientific society in the world, he publicly declared that creationism should be taught not as a misconception, but as a different vision of the world. For this statement some members of the Royal Society, including Nobel laureates Sir Harry Kroto and Sir Richard Roberts, asked for his resignation as director of education at the Company, and the 16 September 2015 Reiss has resigned.

(The fact is reported by The Guardian newspaper of 16 September; see http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2015/sep/16/michael.reiss.resignation).

Since misfortunes never come alone, in December 2015 the Ipsos / Mori poll revealed that for 29% of science teachers "creationism should be taught in science hours along with evolution and the big bang", while the 65% of the interviewees did not agree. For the 73%, instead, creazonism should be "discussed" together with evolution and the big bang. The poll result proved Michael Reiss right, but it threw many scientists into dismay, riporta The Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2015/dec/23/science-evolution-creationism-education).

The commander in chief of the troops of atheistic materialism could not fail to take the field, Richard Dawkins: pass for the desertion of a general, moreover already condemned for direct line, but the mutiny of a third of the troops, this is too much! Here is Dawkins' opinion:

"If he 29% of science teachers think that creationism should be taught as a valid alternative to evolution, we have a national shame on our hands, which requires urgent action to correct the education of science teachers. We will fail in our duty to the boys, if we employed such ignorant - or so stupid - teachers in our schools ".

The Guardian does not explain Dawkins' urgent plan: firing stupid and / or ignorant teachers, or close them in re-education camps and put them back into service only after their oath of fidelity to the One Thought? We will keep you updated on further developments.
